Beaver Island PRINTSI lived for eight years on an island in the middle of northern Lake Michigan, about 35 miles from the Upper Peninsula and Charlevoix on the Lower Peninsula. From my living room window I could watch boats sail and motor past the Whiskey Point Lighthouse, tall ships drop anchor, tugboats haul in barges full of trucks and goods and haul out loads of logs and smashed cars. I painted my favorite views. The originals have been sold, but I have reproductions, matted on foam core and presented in an polyprolene sleeve, for $30 to $40. Then last summer I was invited to do a show at the wonderful Montaage Gallery (across from the library on Donegal Bay Road). A fabulous opening, attended by 150 Beaver Island folk and visitors, celebrated 30 pieces of Beaver Island art, much of it painted in 2007 for the show. Prints are available only on my website at the moment; there are still some of my favorite original Beaver Island paintings available at Montaage. Beaver Island residents and visitors interested in my work can find examples of original Beaver Island paintings and posters at the Beaver Island Lodge, Lake Effect posters at the Beaver Island Toy Museum and Store, books at the Beaver Island Print Shop. Click here for more information. Size A fits in an 11 x 14 mat; size B fits in a 12 x 16 mat; size C fits in a 16 x 20 mat; size D fits a 12 x 18 mat. These mats accept standard frame sizes.
