It's hard to believe but before this book arrived on the scene, no book had ever been published on Great Lakes beach nature, and especially not for children. But not only children love this deceptively simple introduction to the birds, animals, plants, stones, fossils, bugs, and other beach treasures. Adults love it too. It's amazing how many human shore dwellers are not aware of the extraordinary diversity of wildlife before their very windows!

I go to schools to introduce children to many of these creatures and plants, as well as to help them create huge twenty-foot murals in poster paints! These wondrous paintings by school children are some of my favorite projects--one has even hung in a Detroit district courtroom!
